About Dr. Hathaway

The daughter of a veterinarian, Dr. Lauren Hathaway grew up surrounded by pets in East Tennessee. After attending Furman University for her undergraduate degree, she graduated from the University of Tennessee’s College of Veterinary Medicine with honors. Dr. Hathaway then completed a one year, small animal internship in Louisville, KY, with special focus on internal medicine, surgery, and critical care. Following her internship, Dr. Hathaway worked at a busy small animal practice in Charlotte before making the move to Western North Carolina.

Dr. Hathaway’s special interests include feline medicine, dentistry, and geriatric and end-of-life care. She is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners and has earned the Fear Free Professional: Elite certification. Dr. Hathaway loves building relationships with her patients and their families, and enjoys educating her clients on lifelong, preventive care for their pets in order to maintain the human-animal bond for as long as possible.

Dr. Hathaway shares her home with her husband, a massage therapist, and four furry family members: Marlowe and Albert, cats adopted during her time in vet school; Patrick, a goofy Boxer mix rescued during her veterinary internship in Louisville; and Dash, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who was adopted after her move to NC. When not at work, Dr. Hathaway enjoys working on home projects, practicing aerial silks, and checking out new breweries.
